There was a little girl who swallowed a...

NICKEL!

We were at the laundry mat drying our clothes. I often give Raquel change to help me put it into the machines. I came acrossed a nickel and well, the machines only take quarters so I asked her to hold it. And as we know it only takes a second not watching your child that they can find themselves in trouble. After giving her the nickel I grabbed the last handful of clothes out of the dryer and glanced at Raquel and notice kinda of a panic or a uh oh on her face. "Raquel! Where is your money?"  She than points to her mouth. I tell her to spit it out, hoping it would fall into my hand. No nickel! I scanned the floor and no nickel. She swallowed it!  She than told me it was in her belly and would come out the other end. Well I am 90% sure and if it does not come out by 1:00 Friday I am supposed to take her to the doctors to see if they can locate it.
To be honest, I reacted with a abnormal great panic. I could not lose another child. And do to my lack of attention to her. I was headed to the ER ready for her to be operated on. (our ER is two and half hours away if I stay in network) This bought me time to call Boman. He brought me back to reality. Instead I headed home with Raquel. Gave her some bread to make sure her throat was clear to eat. Than I  sobbed with her in my arms.
She seems fine for now. And now we are just waiting...
